What a week! Myself and artist Lindsay Pritchard (aka my mum) have just come back from a 5 day artist retreat which we organised in the beautiful Lake District.
To accommodate the 8 artists who attended, we exclusively hired Winder Hall, a beautiful manor house set in extensive gardens in the little village if Low Lorton.
Throughout the 5 days, we took our artists to various locations around the Northern Lake District where we all sketched and painted the beautiful scenery and buildings. We also treated our artists out to a high tea on a stationary steam train, the very one which was used in the film ‘Murder On The Orient Express’ (2017).
Now… the Lake District can’t have its famous lakes without a little rain so there were a few showers here and there. However, us artists like to press on no matter the weather so we held a life drawing session in the grand dining room with myself as the (clothed) model while others braved the weather in the gardens to capture the surrounding dramatic scenery.
Of course, no artist holiday is complete without a trip (or two… or three) to the pub! After a tiring days painting, there was nothing better than discussing things art related and everything in between over a good meal and a glass of wine!
It’s safe to say that a good time was had by all, new friendships made and memories to last a lifetime.
